International shipping companies are raising prices again!

Hamburg-based container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has announced an increase in general freight rates from Asia to the west coast of Latin America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and the east coast of Latin America.


The German container shipping company said the new GRI will come into effect on January 1 and will apply to cargo transported in 20' and 40' dry containers, including high-cube equipment and 40' non-operational reefers.

Details of this addition are as follows:


20-foot dry container: USD 500


40-foot dry container: USD 1,000


40-foot-tall cube container: $1,000


40-foot refrigerated container: USD 1,000


Hapag-Lloyd announced the geographical scope of this price increase:


Asia (excluding Japan), covering the following countries and regions: Mainland China, Macau, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, and Brunei.


Latin America West Coast, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America, and Latin America East Coast include the following countries: Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay.
